Colon Cleansing Food

When researching what foods you should ingest as part of a colon cleansing plan you will quickly notice something. All of the foods that are good for cleaning the toxins out of the colon are known as very "healthy" foods. On the other hand, the foods known to increase the amount of toxins within the colon are generally known as "junk" food. So, choosing the foods to help you clean out your colon can actually be fairly easy and can just take some common sense.

1. Fruits and Vegetables - Of course, some of the first things you think of when you think "healthy" are fruits and vegetables so this is an obvious choice. Fresh produce is much easier for the body to break down and pass when compared to processed foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables contain a lot of natural fiber which will help promote regularity. While it is hard to go wrong when choosing fresh produce to eat, apples and berries tend to be the best fruits and leafy greens tend to be the best vegetables.

2. Water - Okay, this is not really a "food", but is something that you should ingest a lot of (probably a lot more than you already drink). Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every day to flush out toxins and to be a little more regular.

3. Nuts - Aim for raw nuts. Roasted nuts do not provide as many benefits, though they are better than nothing. Besides helping flush out toxins, nuts have proven to have several other health benefits so this is a great choice.

4. Whole Grains - Fiber is key to a colon cleanse diet. By eating some whole grains, such as wheat bread, you will be adding even more fiber (remember your fruits and vegetables from above) to your diet.

5. Beans - This is another choice that has several health benefits. For your colon cleanse, lentils and black beans are great choices that include a lot of fiber.
