Many of the teenagers and young peoples have a craze for tattoos and piercings but they don’t know that the consequences may be detrimental to their health. Kids who get tattooed or pierced without their parents’ knowledge rarely think about the medical implications. Approximately 30 percent of those who get pierced experience an adverse reaction.
The most common is infection. Piercing guns are most often used to insert the jewelry but one should know that because of their design and the materials used to manufacture them , these guns can’t be completely sterilized. Also the material from which the piece of jewelry is made can cause allergy. More serious outcomes include damage to important nerves, warts, keloid scars or even transmission of the Hepatitis C virus. Piercings done in the mouth may even result in speech impairment. Piercings and tattoos were not very popular until a decade ago. On the contrary, they were associated with social outcasts or convicts but once they became common among celebrities, body art became just one more expression of what was in.
For making a tattoo, multiple punctures are made in the skin to introduce the ink and it’s possible to transmit viral diseases including Hepatitis C and AIDS. In addition, some pigments are manufactured with metallic salts which can cause allergy to some people. Most common complication with tattoos is keloid scarring. Peers of teens are usually supportive so parents should openly discuss the pros and cons of getting tattooed or pierced with their kids. Another truth about tattoos is that in some jobs persons with tattoos are not promoted. Also some blood banks don’t accept donations from people with tattoos.
So friends, do think again if you have this dangerous craze but if you are unable to resist the temptation, kindly check out the health norms, take proper precautions, and get information about the adequate techniques involved.
